A fellow alum of Brooks Institute and I were recently reacquainted.

Dan Carter started his career in photography but his love for older cars took over his life. Making photographs of them to begin with, but possessing knowledge about their inner workings “drove” him into that side of the car business.

Now he owns his own shop called Anvil Motor Sports, here in Santa Barbara and regularly has older, expensive, and valuable collectable cars in his bays. The day I visited him to make his portrait he was working on a Ford Shelby Mustang, vintage 1970.
